Most non-stick pans look the same on the shelf. What differs is the coating, and the quickest way to find out which one a pan has is to read the maker's own website. So we did that for the best sellers and put their wording side by side.

Our quick pick
Blue Diamond Ceramic Nonstick Frying Pan
#5 in Amazon's Skillets best sellers on October 23, 2026, and the top-ranked plain ceramic pan on that list. Blue Diamond says it uses no PTFE and rates it for the oven to 600°F.
See the 8-inch See the 10-inchThe drawback: it does not work on induction. For an induction cooktop, see the GreenPan below.
The Short Answer
For a low-cost pan whose maker says it contains no PTFE, buy the Blue Diamond ceramic. On induction, choose the GreenPan Valencia Pro. If you are happy with a conventional coating, the Tramontina Professional is the big-selling 12-inch, and the T-fal Ultimate comes with a lid.

How we put this together: on October 23, 2026 we read Amazon's best seller list for skillets and each pick's listing for a New York address, then each maker's own product page, FAQ and, where we found one, its chemical disclosure page. We opened every page a second time and matched each quote to the live text. Test results come from Consumer Reports and The Kitchn, credited by name. We did not test these pans ourselves, and Cupindy is not affiliated with any of these brands.
Best Non-Stick Pans Compared
Ten picks and one alternative. The middle column uses each maker's own words for its coating. For CAROTE and Viking we read only the Amazon listing, and those rows say so.

What Each Maker Says the Coating Is
Two kinds of coating share the non-stick shelf. One is PTFE, the fluoropolymer behind Teflon. The other is ceramic, a silica-based coating sprayed on and cured. Some makers say plainly which one they use. Others use words like "reinforced" or "granite" that do not tell you.

| Pan | What the maker says | Buy |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Diamond | “No, PTFE is a PFAS, and we do not use any PFAS including PTFE or PFOA in our coatings.” (Blue Diamond FAQ) | See it |
| GreenPan | “PFAS-free nonstick is made without intentionally added PFAS” (GreenPan) | See it |
| OXO Enhanced | OXO's product page names a “ceramic non-stick coating” and says nothing about PFAS. Its AB 1200 disclosure lists only metals, such as aluminum, chromium and nickel, for this pan, and the Amazon listing calls it PFAS-free. | See it |
| Caraway | “Made without PTFE, PFOA, and PFAS” (Caraway) | See it |
| T-fal Ultimate | “This product contains PTFE for its nonstick properties.” (T-fal) | See it |
| All-Clad HA1 | “This product contains PTFE for its nonstick properties.” (All-Clad) | See it |
| Tramontina Professional | The product page says “Reinforced nonstick coating” and nothing more about what it is (Tramontina). | See it |
| CAROTE granite | The Amazon listing says the pan is PFOA and PFOS free and calls the surface granite. It does not name the coating. | See it |
Watch the word "PFOA-free" in particular. PFOA was a chemical once used to make PTFE, not the coating itself, so a pan can be PFOA-free and still be coated in PTFE. T-fal, for one, says it and its suppliers “have not used PFOA in their processes since 2012” (T-fal). We explain the wording in more detail in what PFOA-free really means.
California's AB 1200 law requires cookware brands to list on their websites any intentionally added chemicals from a state list of chemicals of concern, and every maker on our pick list has a disclosure page. T-fal's and All-Clad's both state that “PTFE coated products contain PFAS chemicals” (T-fal, All-Clad). On a separate page, T-fal says its products “do not contain PFAS that are considered harmful to health or the environment by health authorities” (T-fal). Tramontina's chemical disclosure page says, in a note for Colorado buyers, that intentionally added PFAS give its cookware nonstick properties and wear resistance. The note itself does not name which pans. Blue Diamond's, GreenPan's and OXO's disclosure pages list metals such as aluminum, chromium and nickel, and Blue Diamond and GreenPan both say the food-contact surface of their ceramic coating contains none of the listed chemicals (GreenPan, Blue Diamond, OXO). What health agencies have said about PTFE is a separate question, and we cover it in our guide to PFAS-free cookware. This page sticks to what each maker states.
Ceramic or PTFE Non-Stick: What Testers Found
In Consumer Reports' latest nonstick tests, ceramic pans did best. CR says pans with ceramic coatings “performed admirably, beating out traditional nonstick pans for the top three slots”. The test is hard on the pans: four eggs fried in a row with no oil, then “2,000 strokes with steel wool”, then more eggs (Consumer Reports).

The Kitchn's reviewer sees a trade-off. Ceramic “usually isn't quite as nonstick as PTFE but typically takes longer to show wear”, the reviewer writes, while a pan with a traditional coating “will likely last only two to three years” (The Kitchn). Ceramic does not last forever either. GreenPan “told CR that the ceramic coatings of its pans are expected to last two to five years, possibly more if they're well cared for”.

If you would rather skip coatings altogether, carbon steel and cast iron become slick once they are seasoned. They take metal tools and very high heat, but they need oil and a little care. See our carbon steel pan picks. Pans sold as titanium vary a lot; our titanium cookware guide explains what the label covers. For how the metals under the coating compare, see our guide to cooking pan materials and the best frying pan material.

All three makers call their coating ceramic. Where they part ways is induction, and how far they trust metal tools.

Our quick pick
Blue Diamond 8-Inch Ceramic Nonstick Frying Pan
Blue Diamond calls its coating “diamond-infused ceramic nonstick” and says it is “free of PFAS, PFOA, lead, and cadmium”. The 8-inch and 10-inch pages both list “Oven and broiler safe up to 600°F”, “Metal utensil safe” and dishwasher safe (Blue Diamond). On October 23, 2026 the 8-inch was #5 in Amazon's Skillets list with more than 15,000 ratings, sold by Amazon. The 8-inch suits eggs; take the 10-inch for everyday cooking.
Good for: Eggs and quick meals on gas or electric stoves
The drawback: It is not for induction: the product page says “All stovetops, except induction”. And although the pan is sold as metal-safe, Blue Diamond's own FAQ adds that “nylon, bamboo, silicone, and wood utensils will preserve your pan's coating and keep it like new for longer” (Blue Diamond).

Ceramic on a hard-anodized body
OXO Enhanced 10-Inch Ceramic Nonstick Frying Pan
OXO describes “a ceramic non-stick coating reinforced with diamonds” on a hard-anodized aluminum body, with a stainless steel handle. Its page says “Oven safe up to 600°F” and “Dishwasher safe” (OXO). It was #16 in Amazon's Skillets list on our check date.
Good for: Cooks who want ceramic on a hard-anodized body
The drawback: OXO's page and the Amazon listing disagree on the oven limit (600°F on OXO's page, 430°F on the listing), so we would stay under 430°F. OXO's page is silent on PFAS, induction and metal tools. It also calls the pan new, while the listing shows more than 7,000 ratings, so sort the reviews by most recent before you buy. One more catch: the OXO pans Consumer Reports and The Kitchn tested are the Ceramic Professional line, not this one.

Best for induction
GreenPan Valencia Pro 8-Inch Ceramic Nonstick Frying Pan
GreenPan's Valencia Pro has a “Diamond-infused ceramic nonstick coating” on a base that works on “All stovetops, including induction”. GreenPan rates it “Oven safe up to 600˚F” and says it is “Metal utensil safe, but silicone tools recommended” (GreenPan).
Good for: Induction cooktops, and small jobs like eggs and omelets
The drawback: It has the fewest Amazon ratings of the picks here, under 1,000 for the 8-inch, and the lowest average score of the five. GreenPan allows metal but recommends silicone tools.
See the GreenPan on AmazonBest Traditional Non-Stick Pans
T-fal says outright that its pan contains PTFE. Tramontina's product page does not name its coating, but its chemical disclosure page, quoted above, ties PFAS to the nonstick properties of its cookware, so we group the two here. If a granite-look pan like CAROTE's is on your list, read our granite cookware guide first.

Best big conventional pan
Tramontina Professional 12-Inch Nonstick Frying Pan
A commercial-grade, heavy-gauge aluminum pan with a “Reinforced nonstick coating”, a removable silicone grip on the handle and a lifetime warranty. Tramontina rates it “Oven-safe up to 400°F / 204°C” and dishwasher-safe (Tramontina). The 12-inch was #3 in Amazon's Skillets list on October 23, 2026, with more than 28,000 ratings.
Good for: Big batches, and anyone who wants a familiar slick surface
The drawback: It does not work on induction; Tramontina lists gas, electric and ceramic glass cooktops only. The Kitchn's reviewer found that “the dark surface immediately showed obvious small scratches” on the 10-inch, and the review advises planning “to replace it every few years” (The Kitchn).

Best with a lid
T-fal Ultimate Hard Anodized 12-Inch Nonstick Fry Pan with Lid
T-fal's 12-inch pan comes with a vented glass lid, per the Amazon listing, and a Thermo-Spot heat indicator that turns solid red when the pan is preheated. On its Ultimate frypan set page, T-fal says the coating “contains PTFE for its nonstick properties” and rates the line oven-safe to 400°F, with the lid to 350°F (T-fal). It has more than 14,000 ratings on Amazon.
Good for: Sauteing, shallow frying and anything you want to cover
The drawback: No induction and no metal tools: T-fal says “we strongly recommend that you do not use metal”. In The Kitchn's test of the 10.25-inch, “the egg yolk stuck to and broke in the pan after the initial flip” (The Kitchn).

For eggs, an 8-inch pan is the easy choice: the Blue Diamond, or the GreenPan on induction. For a family-size pan, the Tramontina and the T-fal are both 12 inches, and only the T-fal comes with a lid. To finish a frittata in a hot oven, the Blue Diamond and the GreenPan go highest, at 600°F each. Most of these pans carry a dishwasher-safe label, but the makers' care notes lean toward hand washing; the dishwasher question below gives each one's rule.
How We Chose
We started from Amazon's best seller list for skillets on October 23, 2026, plus Amazon's search results for “non stick pan”, and kept coated frying pans from makers we could check: single pans, plus one two-pan set from All-Clad. Cast iron and stainless pans were left out, and so were larger sets, which have their own guide. For each pan we read the maker's product page, plus its FAQ and chemical disclosure page where we could find them, and noted what it says about the coating, the oven, induction and utensils, and what it leaves out. CAROTE and Viking are the exceptions, with only their Amazon listings to go on. Test results come from Consumer Reports and The Kitchn, quoted by name. No pan here was tested by Cupindy.
Questions People Ask
Are non-stick pans safe?
Most of the debate is about PTFE: Blue Diamond calls PTFE a PFAS, and T-fal and All-Clad both say on their disclosure pages that PTFE-coated products contain PFAS, while T-fal adds, on a separate page, that its products do not contain PFAS “considered harmful to health or the environment by health authorities”. Our PFAS-free cookware guide covers what health agencies say.
Is Teflon safe, and is it the same as PTFE?
Teflon is a brand name for PTFE, so the safety question is the same one covered above. A pan labeled PFOA-free can still be coated in PTFE, because PFOA was a processing chemical, not the coating; see what PFOA-free means.
Are ceramic pans better than traditional non-stick?
In Consumer Reports' latest tests, ceramic pans took the top three spots. The Kitchn's reviewer finds ceramic a little less slick than PTFE but slower to show wear. If you cook on induction, check the base: the Blue Diamond here does not work on it, and the GreenPan does.
What are the disadvantages of non-stick pans?
The coating wears out, so the pan has a shorter life than cast iron or stainless steel. Oven limits can be low: 400°F for both the Tramontina and the T-fal. Several makers warn against metal tools, and some pans do not work on induction.
Why don't chefs use non-stick pans for everything?
Searing and pan sauces need high heat and the browned bits that stick to bare metal, so many cooks reach for stainless steel or carbon steel for that work and keep a non-stick pan for eggs and fish.
Is stainless steel better than non-stick?
For searing and high heat, yes, but food sticks unless you heat the pan and the oil properly. Our guide on how to keep stainless steel from sticking shows the method. For eggs and pancakes, non-stick is easier.
How long does a non-stick pan last?
The Kitchn's reviewer expects two to three years from a traditional coating, and GreenPan told Consumer Reports its ceramic should last two to five. Our non-stick cleaning guide explains when it is time to replace one.
Can non-stick pans go in the dishwasher, and can I use metal on them?
It depends on the maker. The pick-by-job table above shows each one's metal-tool rule. Most of these pans are sold as dishwasher safe, yet Blue Diamond, GreenPan and All-Clad suggest hand washing to make the coating last, and T-fal's site recommends hand washing only. For daily care, see our guide to cleaning non-stick pans.
Should I buy a non-stick set instead of one pan?
Only if you need several pans at once. One good frying pan covers most non-stick jobs. If you do want a set, see our pots and pans set picks.
